Amazing Life Lessons You Can Learn From Albert Einstein

I haven't blogged on here in quite awhile.  I'm not going to make excuses, I'm just gonna get back in the flow...

10 Amazing Life Lessons You Can Learn From Albert Einstein

1. Follow Your Curiosity. "I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious."
2. Perseverance is Priceless. "It's not that I'm so smart; it's just that I stay with problems longer."
3. Focus on the Present. "Any man who can drive safely while kissing a pretty girl is simply not giving the kiss the attention it deserves."
4. The Imagination is Powerful. "Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's coming attractions. Imagination is more important than knowledge."
5. Make Mistakes. "A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new."
6. Live in the Moment. "I never think of the future - it comes soon enough."
7. Create Value. "Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value."
8. Don't Expect Different Results. "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."
9. Knowledge Comes From Experience. "Information is not knowledge. The only source of knowledge is experience."
10. Learn the Rules and Then Play Better. "You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else."

Hello good people of the blogosphere...

It's Friday night (well, Saturday morning really) and I'm laying in bed thinking to myself, "Self, you really should post a blog," and I replied to myself, "but I'm so warm and cozy, I can't get out of bed."

After several minutes of intense, slightly schizophrenic arguing with myself, we were able to come to a compromise. I can post some silly pics from my phone while staying warm and cozy in bed. Here you go world.

Oh man, this just makes me giggle.

Sometimes people just need to be high fived in the face...

My dad is 6"8. My "little" sister is 5"10. My mom is 5"9. I am five feet four inches tall. I am the fun size candy bar.

I may be short but I'm still bad-ass. (that's me on Halloween '09)

Sleepy Time

If I were to ask you, "You, what are some of the best inventions ever?" I already know what you'd say.

1. Chocolate

2. The Internet (Duh!)

3. Body Pillows

Yes, that's right. Body Pillows. Big, soft, cuddly, Body pillows. Best thing ever.

Body pillows are great for so many reasons...

If you're single and love to cuddle you can just cuddle up next to it.

If you're pregnant you can use it in about a million different ways to get comfortable in bed or on the couch.

If you aren't single, and love to cuddle, but your boyfriend/girlfriend/wife/husband are busy our out of town, you can cuddle up.

Not to mention all the great covers you can get for them to go with any decor or theme. They are just plain dandy!

Target has some great covers and great deals on pillows. I highly recomend purchasing one if you don't already have one of these babies. They are fan-freaking-tastic!

Ah, to be young and in love...

First off, I didn't take any of the photos.  Second, I also didn't pay enough attention to who did take them and where I found them.  I just have a folder I stick cool photos in.  If you, or you know who, took these, please let me know and I'd be more than happy to give credit where credit is due.

Who you callin' white trash?

Well you can call me anything you want if you make me some of these!  I don't know who came up with these but I do know that whenever I make them I become more popular then I've ever been.  I'd like to think that these make my personality shine but it's more likely the chocolate that keeps them coming back.  If you've never made these or never eaten them then DO IT!  They are fan-freaking-tastic!

White Trash Truffles
  • 1 package of Oreo cookies
  • 1 package of cream cheese
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
In a heavy duty ziploc bag, crush Oreo cookies until there are no chunks left. A rolling pin is helpful for this, just be careful that the ziploc bag doesn't tear. If you're fancy and have a food processor I highly recommend using it to crush these, makes things much easier.
Add cream cheese to the Oreo mixture and seal the bag. Mix the ingredients together until fully incorporated. This will give you a VERY sticky dough.
Use a cookie dough scoop to scoop mixture and use hands to roll into truffle-sized balls. Place onto foil lined cookie sheets. Chill for 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, melt chocolate chips in a small saucepan on the lowest heat. stirring often.  I recommend using a double boiler or making one. Remove truffles from the fridge and drop two at a time into the melted chocolate. When coated, carefully remove from pan and set on foil lined cookie sheet. Chill until chocolate has hardened.
Makes 2 1/2 dozen truffles.

Personally I think they are the best once their chilled and served cold.  When they are served at room temp they are a bit sticky .

Enjoy!

Something is better than nothing right?

And for the ladies...

Shake it like a Polaroid picture!

While everyone and their mom has heard the original version of this song, I doubt everyone has heard it like this. Mat Weddle of the little known Arizona band "Obadiah Parker" did a fabulous cover of "Hey Ya!" which was originally done by Andre 3000 of Outkast.

Take a look at this great performance of "Hey Ya!" by Mat Weddle!

WOW! There is just something about the peaceful acoustic guitar that just gets to me! When the Andre 3000 version of this song came out I knew every word by heart but I never really comprehended it. To be honest, after listening to this version a gazillion times, I realized it's kind of a sad song. Still, it makes me happy. I don't know why but it does, and I always find myself throwing in the "All you Beyonces and Lucy Lu's..." part LOL.

I searched everywhere trying to download this song and the only place I could find it was on iTunes. I bought the whole "Obadiah Parker Live" CD just for this song! Yes I know that I could have purchased the song individually, but I love it so much I just had to support the band.
Coincidentally, the entire CD is quite enjoyable. The CD version of "Hey Ya!" has a bit more instrumentally, as well as some back up singers, and of course its recorded in a studio so it's crystal clear.

Obviously the Mat Weddle version isn't as poppy, and you can't really dance to it, so, for those of you who like to shake your money makers...

And I will admit this version is much funnier to watch. I love the backup singers! LOL I'm dancing in my chair as I listen to it. *Shakes it like a Polaroid picture*

Check out more info about Obadiah Parker here!

Pick Up Lines of the Day

Was that an earthquake or did you just rock my world?

Let's make like fabric softener and snuggle.

Is that a mirror in your pocket? Because I can see myself in your pants.

Nice skirt can, can I wear it as a hat?

This is going to be Legen, wait for it...

"This is gonna be legen- wait for it, and I hope you're not lactose-intolerant because the next word is -DAIRY!"

Ah, so simple, yet so entertaining. Even those of you who don't watch "How I Met Your Mother" (Monday Nights, 8pm on CBS, WATCH IT!) can appreciate the subtle awesomeness that is Barney Stinson. I kid you not, I cannot get through an episode of this show without laughing out loud. Here are just a few quotes that make me giggle.
**********************************
Barney: Merry Christmas to everyone! Well, everyone who believes in it, and even if you don't, may you get laid and be awesome tonight! I sure will. Sincerely, Barney Stinson.
**********************************
Barney: I slept with robin once, and i caught feelings...i caught feeling bad. i used protection and everything...
**********************************
[First scene of the series, in 2030]
Future Ted: Kids, I'm going to tell you an incredible story, the story of how I met your mother.
Ted's Son: Are we being punished or something?
Future Ted: No.
Ted's Daughter: Dad, is this gonna take a while?
Future Ted: Yes. Twenty-five years ago, before I was Dad, I had this whole other life...
**********************************
Lily: Hey. I'm just sitting here. Wearing my ring. My beautiful ring. Kinda makes wearing other stuff seem wrong. Like... my shirt. Kinda dont wanna wear my shirt any more. Or my underwear. Oh, that's right, I'm not wearing any.
Marshall: [stops working and looks at Lily] No underwear?
Lily: Not even slightly.
[Camera pans to show Ted is in the room]
Ted: Guys...boundaries!
**********************************
Robin: So what was it, a cockroach or a mouse?
Lily: It was a cockamouse!
Robin: What?
Lily: It's some sort of mutant combination of the two. It's as if a cockroach and a mouse, you know...
Barney: Did the horizontal, ten-legged, interspecies cha-cha?
Robin: So it was a cocka-potato-mouse?
Marshall: Don't make this sound ridiculous. It's a cockamouse.

A Wise Man

A wise man once said...

"You know what I do when I'm feeling sad? I stop feeling sad and feel awesome instead."

Okay, so that wise man may be a fictional character (Barney Stinson - How I Met Your Mother) but you have to admit that it’s a good rule to live by.

I’ve spent much of my life being sad and depressed and it basically sucks. I decided recently that I am going to stop feeling sad and just feel awesome instead. Now this isn’t to say I’ll never feel sad again, because, unfortunately, sadness is unavoidable sometimes but the goal of this blog is to give myself something to feel good about. Hopefully it will give others something to smile about as well.

Each day I am going to blog about something different. Something happy and positive. It may be as simple as a silly image I’ve found online, maybe a book or movie I’ve come across, maybe even a new spectacular recipe no one should live without. The goal is to do it every day without fail no matter how small or insignificant it may be. As long as I’ve made a post that conveys something positive then I’ll be good.

As so many people have said before me, today is the first day of the rest of my life. Here goes.
